2019-1Q: Equipment Health Summary

Equipment Health Summary

A new feature has been added to display a "summary" of network health in the Network Details section of the customer details page.

The feature will check the Network Health (NETH) status of each piece of equipment listed in the customers Equipment Details section. For each piece of equipment it will "walk" up the equipment tree (using the "parent" entry for the equipment) and check the status of the equipment along they way. A max of 5 hope up the tree will be checked. An overall status will be displayed based on the health of each piece of equipment checked.

The status displayed will be:

  • OK (green) - no NETH entries for the equipment or any of the parents checked

  • recovered (blue) - a NETH failure was recorded in the last 24 hours, but the equipment is not failing at present

  • warning (orange) - a failure is noted in NETH but the threshold for failure has not yet been reached (typically 5 failures in 5 minutes)

  • failing (red) - a failure is noted in NETH and the threshold for failure has been reached (typically 5 failures in 5 minutes)

Below the overall status each piece of equipment checked will be listed along with it's current NETH status:

In this case, for example, device Switch1 had failed in the last 24 hours but is OK now, while BH102 is currently in the failing state. The overall status is set to failing because BH102 is in the failing state.
